Can I take my dog on the train?
Passengers may take a dog with them (maximum two per passenger), free of charge and subject to conditions, provided they do not endanger or inconvenience passengers or staff. Please read the conditions before travel
here.
Are refreshments available on the train?
The Heart of Wales Line does not usually see a trolley service on its line. The easiest way to check if it will be provided on your train is by buying your ticket through Transport for Wales’s app or website. When you select your route and departure times, an icon will appear indicating if food and drink will be available.
You can also call Transport for Wales on 03333 211 202 between 8am and 8pm Monday – Saturday and between 10am and 8pm on Sundays.
Do I have to reserve my seat?
At the moment Transport for Wales don’t offer seat reservations on any of their routes other than for
wheelchair users.

Can I take my bike on the train?
Cycle spaces are available on Transport for Wales trains however, spaces are limited and where there is no option to reserve a space when you purchase your ticket in advance, it is on a first come first served basis. More information can be found

Are children free to travel on the train?
Under 5’s travel for free on all National Rail services.
Under 11’s can travel for free any time on Transport for Wales services if accompanied by a fare paying adult (maximum of 2 children under 11 years old per fare paying adult).
Under 16’s are only able to travel for free on off peak Transport for Wales services when travelling with a fare paying adult (maximum of 2 children under 16 years of age per fare paying adult).

Can I use my Concessionary Travel Pass on the train?
If you have a Concessionary Travel Pass from a Welsh Local Authority, you can travel free between any two of these stations from 1st October to 31st March:
Shrewsbury, Church Stretton, Craven Arms, Broome, Hopton Heath, Bucknell, Knighton, Knucklas, Llangynllo, Llanbister Road, Dolau, Pen-y-bont, Llandrindod, Builth Road, Cilmeri, Garth (Powys), Llangammarch, Llanwrtyd, Sugar Loaf, Cynghordy, Llandovery, Llanwrda, Llangadog, Llandeilo, Fairfach, Llandybie, Ammanford, Pantyffynnon, Pontarddulais, Llangennech, Bynea, Llanelli, Gowerton, Swansea.
Transport for Wales does not provide free tickets for journeys wholly between Shrewsbury and Bucknell and Llanelli and Swansea. You can get your free ticket from the Conductor on the train.

My train was late or cancelled, can I get a refund?
All ticket enquiries and service information should be sought from the operating company. We are not able to help with ticketing and service enquiries. The train operating company for the Heart of Wales Line is
Transport for Wales.
Is there WiFi on the train?
Unfortunately the Class 153s which operate on the Heart of Wales Line do not have WiFi however, Transport for Wales are in the process of installing routers on board.

The British Transport Police are the national police service for the railways in England, Wales and Scotland. They provide a policing service to rail operators, their staff and passengers.
