Woodpeckers Carriage is a luxury Shepherds hut in beautiful mid wales in an oasis of trees on Maelienydd Common. It is in a peaceful, quiet area, situated between Knighton and Llandrindod Wells. 

The Carriage, originally a local slate mine rail carriage, was converted to a Shepherds hut in 2020 to a very high standard, and has a luxury bathroom, cosy bedroom and a kitchen. There is an outdoor patio with BBQ/firepit. 

There are many things to see and do in this area. The stunning Elan valley area is only 30 mins away and the white sand beaches of Borth and Aberdyfi are well worth a visit. There are plenty of great places to eat and lovely cosy pubs. Many local opportunities to enjoy amazing hidden Walking and Cycling routes.

This area is famed for its exceptional wildlife and we live on Maelienydd common which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is important as a breeding and wintering habitat for a variety of birds, including Skylarks, warblers, peewits, and curlews. Red kites and buzzards are also common visitors.

Without light pollution, we enjoy Dark Skies with bright moons and great sunsets.
